Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York I grew up with a passion for food. Food was at the center of many happy memories of my childhood. I can recall countless occasions where a simple Entenmann's cake and a pot of coffee would bring us all together. Food and music, that's what I grew up on.
My grandfather, Peter, was who inspired me to become a Chef. Growing up as a Butchers' son and running the business with his father and brother he had a flare for food. Watching him prepare for all the holidays is a memory I hold close to my heart. Taking note of the care and effort he put into the simplest of dishes. "Presentation, it's all about presentation my baby" he would tell me.
I graduated the French Culinary Institute in 2008 and have devoted my life to the restaurant and hospitality industry. Working as a Chef for many years then transitioning to Front of House, all to have a full understanding of the experience food has on us all.
In late 2017 I moved out to Hunterdon County with my husband Mario. Making the change from city life to country living inspired me to start my own small business. With the support and love of my friends and family I am so excited to bring "Catered by Christen" to my new home. Serving food made with love from my kitchen to yours!
